








A commemoration ceremony of the 77th anniversary of Myanmar Fire Brigade Day was held at Myanmar International Convention Center II in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.
Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win attended the ceremony and made a speech. The Vice Senior General expressed his words of honour to the members of Fire Brigade who are serving public service duties in successive eras including fire safety, disaster prevention and rescue measures.
He continued that Myanmar Fire Brigade is carrying out the tasks by laying down 4 objectives under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is needed to strictly follow three important fields of preparation, fire safety and rescue measures and reviewing.
During ten years period from 2013 to 2022, over 18,000 fire outbreaks occurred, leaving more than 155 billion kyats losses of properties.
The Vice Senior General stressed the needs to educate the public concerning fire safety measures in order to reduce the cases of fire outbreak and losses of properties. He added that fire distinguishing works is very risky, sacrificing life and body.
He urged all to make constant training for using modern equipment skillfully and capacity building of the fire brigade members.
The Vice Senior General said the government is awarding the outstanding members of fire brigade for their sacrificing in fire extinguishing and rescue measures. From 1952 to date, a total of 356 honourary medals and titles were presented to the members of fire brigade.
The Vice Senior General urged all the fire brigade members to keep on overcoming the challenges in the future ahead. It was followed by screening of commemorative video clip, and the classic fire safety educative song, presented by famous vocalist U Tun Shwe.
The Vice Senior General later presented honorary awards to vocalist U Tun Shwe, aged 90 and retired fire brigade members U Wan Thaung and U Tun Kyi, aged 94 and 92 respectively. The Vice Senior General later received a commemorative gift presented by the Union Minister for Home Affairs.
The Union Minister also awarded honorary medals to the retired fire brigade officers and family members who are the recipients of the title presented by the State Administration Council.
The Vice Senior General and party later viewed the displays of ancient fire engines, modern fire engines and equipment, MSME businesses producing fire safety equipment, and imported equipment.
At night, a dinner reception was held in honour of the 77th anniversary Myanmar Fire Brigade Day. The Vice Senior General attended the dinner together with the high ranking officials, and fire brigade members.
