Myanmar Film Academy 2024: Gold Statuettes & Fashion Awards Presented

“Chitthuthar Pantapwint Phyitkeyin” won the Best Picture Award at the 2024 Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards Presentation ceremony, held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre I in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday.

Alive with the arrivals of celebrities along the red carpet, the venue featured the interview booth, exhibition of documentary photographs of previous Academy awardees from 1952 to 2023 and the display of movie titles screened in 2024.

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the celebration which began with the setting up of Academy Golden Statuette on the digital stage. This was followed by the entertainment program and screening of a documentary video clip.

The Prime Minister made a speech, expressing his honour to present Academy Awards to the outstanding artists in the movie industry. He also praised the success of Myanmar movie industry for 105 years since its emergence in 1920, serving the interest of the nation and its people throughout successive eras.

Highlighting the crucial role of movie industry in preserving the culture of the nation, he urged the stakeholders of movie industry to continue safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of the country while handing down to the new generation. He also called for promoting the image of the country through the soft power of movie industry.

The Prime Minister pledged for providing necessary assistance for development of movie industry. The celebration later featured the entertainment programs by the artists. This was followed by the presentation of the Motion Picture Academy Awards.

This year saw four awardees for Lifelong Academy Awards. Veteran Actor Kyi Soe, Actress Academy Wah Wah Win Shwe, Director Maung Hnin Moe and Actress Academy Khin Than Nu received the Lifelong Academy Award for their contribution for the interest of the people through the works of art.

The Best Cinematography Award went to Kaung Zan for his excellent works in the movie “Chitthuthar Pantapwint Phyitkeyin”. Diramore won the Best Film Music Award for his outstanding musical arrangement in the movie “Eikmatkayan”.

Aung Myo Myat and Ye Win won the Best Sound Editing Award for the movie “Mee”, while Arkar Kyaw won the Best Editing Award for the movie “Hnaung”. The Best Film Script Award went to Aye Thiri Ko for the movie “Tain Bachi”.

The Best Picture Award went to Taurus V Film Production for the film “Chitthuthar Pantapwint Phyitkeyin”.As a Special Award for this year, Lone Lone (Linkar Dipa) was recognized for the best make-up support for the movie “Hnaung”.

The Best Director Award went to Win Lwin Htet for the movie “Eikmatkayan”. Chuu Lay won the Best Supporting Actress Award for her excellent performance in the movie “Bodaw King”, while Aye Chan Maung won the Best Supporting Actor Award for the movie “Mee”.

The Best Actress Award went to Wut Hmon Shwe Yi for the movie “Tain Bachi” and the Best Actor Award to Nay Toe for “Hnaung”.

Moreover, the Myanmar Academy Fashion Grand Awards were presented to Actor Yan Aung and Actress Soe Moe Kyi, while the Myanmar Academy Fashion Awards went to Actor Htet Aung Shine and Actress Nan Su Yati Soe.

For this year Academy Awards, the selection panel has assessed 49 films and shortlisted 18 finalists for the final round.

After that, The Senior General and his wife took a documentary group photo together with the intellectuals, intelligentsia and artistes from motion picture, literary, theatrical and music arenas and cordially greeted them.
