The Union Election Commission announced that the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM), which will be used in the 2025 multiparty democratic general election, has now been officially recognized as meeting Myanmar National Standards.
Since the MEVMs were developed and produced locally by Myanmar engineers, the National Standards Council formed a 20-member Technical Sub-Committee to draft the required standards for the machines. After reviewing their draft, the Council officially approved and declared the MEVM standard as a Myanmar Standard under Notification No. 075/2025.
The Council also formed an Electrical, Electronic, and ICT Inspection Committee under Notification No. 083/2025 to evaluate whether the machines and their production process meet the required standards.
The MEVM has now passed all evaluations, and it has received the Certification of Conformity (CoC) confirming the machine meets national standards, and a license to use the Myanmar Standards (MMS) Mark on the product. The Commission stated that MEVMs have therefore met both the national standard and the national quality certification requirements.
MITV is a broadcast TV brand intended for international and local English speaking consumers, launched on 31st March 2010 based in Yangon.
