Myanmar CDC construction project: MoH UM inspected construction works of Myanmar CDC

Union minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win accompanied by Deputy Minister Professor Dr. Aye Tun, Directors General of the departments and Senior officials inspected the construction project of Myanmar National Centers for Disease Control and Medical Training Center - Myanmar CDC implementing with the assistance of the People’s Republic of China in Dakkhinathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on 5th March.

In his remark, the Union Minister said that China and Myanmar are the neighboring countries which have strong bilateral relation since the many years ago. Myanmar National Centers for Disease Control and Medical Training Center under construction was started implementation in 2021 with the assistance of the People’s Republic of China.

It’s an international standard Centers for Disease Control and Medical Training Center included 3-storey disease control building which has international standard laboratories including Biosafety Level 3 laboratories and disease control systems, 3-storey training building which has capacity to hold 200 trainees and 2-storey administrative office building.

This is an international standard project proved the "Paukphaw" friendship and bilateral cooperation between the two countries of People’s Republic of China and Myanmar.When Myanmar CDC is opened and enabling to operate, it’s beneficial not only for Myanmar but also neighboring countries and countries of South-East Asia Region in the infectious diseases control measures.

For the time being, the construction works have completed about 93% and it will be enabled to open soon.Next, the Director (Epidemiology) under the Department of Public Health clarified regarding the status of providing assistance by the Department in the construction works of Myanmar CDC, responsible person from the construction company of China regarding the work completion status with Power point presentation and the Union Minister, Deputy Minister and Directors General gave guidance on the requirements regarding with the clarifications.

After that, the Union Minister and party inspected construction site of Myanmar National CDC and Medical Training Center, Biosafety Level 2, Level 3 and other laboratories and preparation of equipment in the labs and installation of equipment and the tests, training room, dormitories, dining hall preparation, administrative building and meeting halls and coordinated requirements.
