Myanmar Basketball: Myanmar basketball federation provide coaching courses

The Myanmar basketball federation provided coaching courses to turn out the next generation of basketball players. During the process, coaches from each regions and states including department of education were invited and coaching course No 1/ 2023 was opened at the former office hall of the Ministry of Sports and physical education department (Yangon) in Kyaikkasan stadium, on 20th March.

As the result of the opening of the course, for the coaches to enhance the skills in each regions and state and young players who will contribute the country’ pride will be emerged, Myanmar basketball federation vice chairman U Maung Maung Myint said." Before COVID, it is organized annually or once in every two year. Sometimes, we organize various trainings with the local instructors, but sometimes with instructors from South East Asia Basketball Association (SEABA), FIBA Asia. As we are now holding back the basketball competitions and at schools as well, for those from Department of Education, Tatmadaw men and basketball clubs from private schools, its kind like refresher course. We have level 1, 2 and advance. Without knowing basic techniques, it is hard to get improved. The training drill and basic exercises are to be shared back to the athletes. After that, the advance courses to be conducted. . We now trying to get easy access to basketball for all."

The 10-day basketball coaching course was opened from 20th to 29th March and 50 trainees. By attending the course like this, the trainees will gain knowledge and skills through practice and can apply it for the next generation of players said a trainee who are joining from Kachin State said "I am the physical teacher from Myitkyina, Kachin state. I am going to teach back the lectured courses to the children aiming to be able to compete at SEA Games. I’m going to share back the lessons and try to improve the basketball sport from affordable hand."

The patron of the Myanmar basketball federation, coaches officials, principal from the Ministry of sport and physical science, officials and trainees were attended the opening ceremony course. Such kinds of courses-referee course, technical course, and workshops were taught before Covid-19 outbreak but those courses were suspended for about three years during Covid-19 outbreak and now it has been reopened for the first time.
