Muslims flock to Jerusalem for Ramadan Friday

Muslim faithful flocked to Jerusalem to attend weekly prayers on the first Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, when worshippers often intensify prayers.

Many have traveled from the West Bank to pray at the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem's Old City, a holy site known to Jews as the Temple Mount.

The site is a frequent hotspot, especially during religious holidays. Israeli security forces could be seen at a crossing point from the West Bank into Israel as well as around Jerusalem's Old City.
