More than 1.5 million Muslims gathered on Mount Arafat in high temperatures on Saturday, marking the peak and most challenging day of the annual hajj pilgrimage.

Worshippers from around the world ascended the 70-meter hill near Mecca, where the Prophet Mohammed is believed to have delivered his last sermon.

Temperatures are expected to reach 43 degrees Celsius, posing significant challenges, particularly for the elderly. Saudi authorities have advised pilgrims to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the sun, with many carrying umbrellas.
