Music Industry: Union Minister presides over meeting for development

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn on Saturday held a meeting with concerned officials at the Myanmar Music Association (Central) in Yangon for development of the Music Industry.

In this meeting, the Union Minister said that due to party politics, the music industry almost collapsed and the time has come for musicians to perform for the public. In the reorganization of the Myanmar Music Association, musicians from all walks of life and youth representatives need to participate.

In order to obtain the rights of musicians, all must continue to make efforts by coordinating and combining in accordance with the copyright law. All the musicians need to unite for the concert in commemoration of the Myanmar Music Day which will fall on the 27th of June.

In order to present the Music Academy awards, efforts are needed to establish a selection committee, the Union Minister added. And, attendees made discussions on the reorganization of the Myanmar Music Association (Central), the copyright law, celebration of the Myanmar Music Day and cooperation for the Music Academy awards. Then, the Union Minister coordinated the discussions.

After the meeting, the Union Minister inspected the site for construction of the Sarso Beikman building in Uyin Ward of Mingalar Taung Nyunt Township with assistance from India.

During the inspection, the Union Minister heard report on structure of the building and cost and stressed that the Sarso Beikman is an essential building and it will also show the friendship between the India and Myanmar.

And, the Union Minister gave necessary instructions for the construction. On the same day, the Union Minister met with media persons at the Film Promotion Division in Bahan Township. This meeting focused on the state of publication of newspapers and journals, conditions of reporting true news, distribution and plans.
