Mt. Phonkanrazi: Phonkanrazi Wildlife Sanctuary in Putao

The Phonkanrazi Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the west of Putao District and visitors can enjoy the scenery of ice-capped mountains in Putao as well.

There are so many rare animal species living in Putao District such as Takin, Wild goat, Red panda, white eyebrow monkeys and clouded leopard species. Also many types of herbage are growing there such as SheePadee, Ice mountain ginseng and so many kinds of orchid plants in Putao District. Putao region is included in the list of 25 global ecological zones.

The Forest Department is maintained this unique watershed area and sanctuary as a national conservation area. The government and local people must work together to maintain the Phonkanrazi mountains and wildlife sanctuary for the long term.
