






On 2nd October, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than in his capacity as the Chairman of the MSME Development Work Committee, presided over a meeting with the Wine, Jams and Cream Business Owners at the Department of Medical Research in PyinOoLwin Township.
In his remarks, the Union Minister stressed that the meeting is held to provide necessary assistance to the entrepreneurs to promote local MSME enterprises in PyinOoLwin District meeting set standards as well as to penetrate the international markets with qualified value-added products.
Mandalay Region Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection has already issued Industrial Registration Certificate to a total of 2 entrepreneurs for Wine production, 15 for jams business and 37 for milk and dairy products.
Also, one million to 10 million kyat loans have been disbursed to the MSME entrepreneurs according to their enterprises. As of September 2024, SME Temporary Registration Certificates needed for loan application have been issued to 594 micro, 315 small and 315 medium enterprises.
The Union Minister added that workshops and technology transferring projects are being conducted in order to receive necessary technology assistances for the MSME enterprises. E-Market platform is established to access market and MSME Webportal is also formed to receive necessary technologies, to process MSME registration through online as well as to broaden the usage of digital technology in MSME sector.
Moreover, drafts are under process to amend Small and Medium Enterprises Development Law 2015 to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Law. Once the law is amended, micro and startups will receive the requisite assistances.
The Union Minister also called for the concerted efforts of the entrepreneurs to develop their enterprises for the interest of the nation. Then, the attendees presented reports on difficulties encountered and the departmental officials coordinated requirements.
The meeting was concluded with the closing remarks of the Union Minister. Subsequently, the Union Minister and party visited the Burst Transmission Co., Ltd in Yadanapon Industrial Zone, inspected the production processes and instructed for accessing technology transfer, opening capacity enhancement trainings and urged to follow the set regulations and procedures in order to expanse the business.
