More than 250 years after its last restoration, the Canopy of St Peter's Basilica in Rome is undergoing important renovation works in preparation for the World Jubilee in 2025, with more than 30 million pilgrims expected to visit.

The Canopy, which saw its last major restoration in 1758, is one of the most famous works. The restoration of this altar and canopy is one of the most important restorations to be carried out, said the director of communications at Saint Peter's Basilica. According to site manager, the cleaning of the gold and bronze parts in particular are the central elements of the restoration.
