More Samba School parades in Brazil’s largest city

Brazil’s largest city staged a second night of Samba School parades with a crowd of tens of thousands of locals and visitors eager to celebrate Carnival 2023 at the Sambadrome Anhembi. A total of 14 schools will be judged in 10 categories, from quality of the dram sections to the beauty of their costumes.

The COVID-19 pandemic last year prompted Sao Paulo to delay Carnival by two months. However, this year the Carnival is back in full swing to its pre-pandemic form. Brazil’s federal government expects 46 million people to join the festivities that run through Feb. 22. As such, Carnival’s full-fledged return is a shot in the arm for local economies.
