More properties flooded in Victoria state

Authorities warned Sunday flooding could worsen in the Australian state of Victoria. Emergency warnings have been issued to residents in some parts of the state with concerns over further potential flooding which, reports say, could affect thousands of properties.

According to local media 10,000 homes could become flooded in the Shepparton region, where water levels from the Goulburn River have already risen to 11.8 metres, leading to water inundating streets and houses. Local authorities expect the river to peak at 12.2 meters on Monday which would beat records set during floods in 1974 and more than 1,000 houses could become flooded in the area, local media reports.
