Monsoon Tree Planting :Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony held in Monywa

With the aim to prevent drought and heat wave due to climate change and mitigate natural disaster, to improve the coverage of forests for the sustainability of forest resources, to develop the people’s awareness and appreciation of the value of trees and green environment and to carry out more conservation activities of forests, Monsoon Tree Planting Ceremony was held at the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Monywa) in Monywa township, Sagaing Region on 22nd June.

The ceremony was attended by Sagaing Region Chief Minister U Myat Kyaw, region advocate general, members of the region government, region/district/township level departmental officials and staff, instructors from Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Monywa) and students, staff from Dryzone Greening Department and officials.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over the Neem seedlings to the principal of the Sports and Physical Education (Monywa) and the Region Advocate General, Region Security and Border Affairs Minister, Region Minister for Natural Recourses handed over the seedlings to the Region Level departmental officials.

Afterwards, the Region Chief Minister and officials planted the seedlings at the designated places respectively. The Region Chief Minister and party then viewed around collective planting of trees. The ceremony came to an end after taking a documentary photo.

In the compound of the Institute of Sports and Physical Education (Monywa), 15 types of trees and 1000 seedlings were planted in 2023 Monsoon season tree planting ceremony. The Region Dryzone Greening department will plant over 160,000 trees in total in ShweBo, Monywa and Sagaing Districts.
