The third Monsoon Tree Plantation Ceremony (2024) of the families of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, Air) Office took place near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw on Friday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Speaking on the occasion, the SAC Chairman said that monsoon tree plantation ceremony of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, Air) Office’s families has been held annually as part of national strategy for forestry preservation.
He pointed out that the world nations are facing the challenges of natural disasters triggered by the climate change. Although the disaster could not be avoided, necessary preparation measures can be carried out for least impact.
Tree planting and forest conservation are among the preventive measures for the natural disaster. Recently, several areas of Myanmar have suffered loss of lives and properties due to extensive rainfall and devastating flood, the worst disaster caused by rainfall.
The SAC Chairman added that growing perennial trees could benefit much to the posterities, and urged all to strive for thriving and sustainability of the planted trees.
Then, the SAC Chairman and wife planted saplings at the designated places together with other participants. Altogether 2,400 saplings were planted during the ceremony.
It’s learnt that from 2011 to 2024, the families of Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, Air) Office planted over 201,000 saplings of perennial trees for environmental preservation and conservation of ecosystem near Yezin Dam.
Similarly, monsoon tree plantation ceremonies were held at the respective Military commands, and over 221,000 trees have been planted during these events.
