At least 28 people have died and more than 24,000 have been relocated in Indian state of Gujarat since Sunday after heavy rains led to massive flooding. Several rivers and reservoirs are overflowing as water levels have crossed the danger mark, officials said.

The weather department warned more heavy rain is expected on Thursday in the western coastal state. Some 1,856 people were rescued by disaster and army officials deployed for relief operations. Electricity connections were badly affected, with some 1,000 villages grappling without power.
