People in parts of Bangladesh hit by monsoon rain floods did their best to get on with life in villages as they waited for the water to recede.

Officials said earlier in the week hundreds of thousands of people have been stranded and thousands of hectares of farmland submerged due to floods triggered by monsoon rains. Millions have been forced to flee their homes in Assam after the Brahmaputra river that flows from Tibet into India and then into Bangladesh burst its banks in Assam over the weekend inundating more than 2,000 villages.
