Monkeypox Prevention Measures: Raising Awareness For The Public’s Safety Measures And Health

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the monkeypox disease as a global health emergency, which has been spread to more than 70 countries and has been infected more than 16,000 people.

If infected with monkey pox, symptoms show within 1 to 7 weeks and the initial symptoms are flu-like fever, headache, muscle aches, back ache, swollen lymph nodes, chills and fatigue.

And then, the rash that can look like pimples or blisters that appears on the face, inside the mouth and continues to spread to other parts of the body like the hands, feet, chest, and genitals. The rash turns into pustules. When the pustules dry up, scabs appear. The disease will typically last for 2 to 4weeks. Monkeypox disease is a disease that can be transmitted through close contact, through respiration, by handling and touching equipments used by infected people and unprotected exposures to infected animals. Human to Human transmission occurs through close contact with infectious material from skin lesions of an infected person, through respiratory droplets in prolonged face-to-face contact, and through fomites.

Currently, when the COVID-19 disease continues to be transmitted by genetic variants and monkeypox has become another global emergency, everyone must have precaution measures to avoid the infectious disease. By following the preventive rules and regulations of COVID-19 disease, monkeypox disease will also be able to prevent. Prevention measures such as wearing masks, avoiding crowds, keep a safe distance, washing hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub and taking special care of personal hygiene must be followed to protect from infectious diseases.
