Mon State Day: Dy. Prime Minister attends the commemoration ceremony

A ceremony to commemorate the 49th anniversary Mon State Day was held in conjunction with the presenting of honorary awards at Mawrawady Park in Mawlamyine on Sunday. Member of the State Administration Council (SAC), Deputy Prime Minister, Union Minister for Defence General Mya Tun Oo, SAC member U Yan Kyaw, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung, Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Then, Southeast Command Commander Maj-Gen Myat Thet Oo, the Deputy Ministers and officials attended the ceremony.

General Myat Tun Oo read out the message sent by the SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the 49th anniversary Mon State Day. The Chief Minister later extended greetings. It was followed by presenting of outstanding awards to the winners. General Mya Tun Oo, Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung and Deputy Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Dr Soe Win later presented 100 sets of solar power lamps, 36 million kyats for digging 3 artisian wells and sports gears.

Then, the Kyaik Pyinku Pagoda Board of Trustees of Paung Township handed over the ancient bass bell to Mon State Archeaological and National Museum Department. The ethnic cultural troupes were also presented with the flower baskets. Union Minister General Mya Tun Oo and officials later met with the military officers, Tatmadawmen and families at Aung San Hall and gave a speech. The also presented provisions and foodstuff to the family members.
