Mon National Day: 78th anniversary celebration in Yangon

Yangon Regional Level celebration for the 78th Anniversary Mon National Day was held at the National Theatre in Dagon Township on Friday.

Chief Minister U Soe Thein attended the ceremony, and took part in the ceremonial ribbon cutting event. In his speech, the Chief Minister said that the government is supporting for development of ethnic language, literature and arts, while implementing for various aspects of education, health, economy and transportation.

He urged all national races to participate in the efforts for building a union based on democracy and federal system, upholding the union spirit. He also called for collaboration in the measures for ensuring stability and peace in the country. During the ceremony, honorary cash awards were presented to the organizing committee, followed by performance of Mon traditional cultural dances of and ethnic cultural troupes.
