





Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the martyrs of the Assam Agitation in Guwahati, Assam. The memorial, located at Paschim Boragaon, was inaugurated earlier this month and commemorates 860 martyrs of the six-year-long Assam Agitation that concluded in 1985.
Accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Himanta BiswaSarma and other dignitaries, Prime Minister Modi visited the martyrs’ gallery where busts of the fallen protesters are displayed. The Prime Minister also garlanded the statue of Khargeswar Talukdar, recognized as the first martyr of the Assam Agitation, paying respects to his sacrifice and legacy.
