Millions of lamps light up Diwali celebrations in Indian temple town Ayodhya

Ayodhya in India glows with more than 2.6 million earthen lamps on the eve of Diwali on Sunday, setting two Guinness World Records during the Deepotsav festival on the banks of the Saryu River.

The spectacle, featuring a dazzling light and fireworks show, draws thousands to the north Indian temple town, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, whose return from 14 years of exile is celebrated as Diwali — the festival of lights.
