Migrants attempt to cross Mexico-US border in Ciudad Juarez

More than a hundred migrants gathered in front of wire fencing at the Mexico-United States border hoping to enter the US.

Texas National Guard officers let migrants who are unwell or families with small children cross the fence, before sending other migrants back into Mexico. More than 2.4 million migrants crossed the southern US border in 2023 alone, largely from Central America and Venezuela as they flee poverty, violence and disasters exacerbated by climate change.
