



Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung received Chief of Mission of International Organization for Migration (IOM) Myanmar Mr. Dragan Aleksoski and delegates at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday morning.
The meeting was attended by the Union Minister, the permanent secretary, director-general and officials. Myanmar joined the IOM as the 147th member country in November 2012 and collaborated with IOM and in migrant workers management affairs.
The Department of Labour of the Ministry and IOM signed MoU in 2015 with an initial term of 3-year. The MoU, which was extended in 2018, expired in 2021 and so negotiations are underway to sign a new MoU.
At the meeting, they frankly discussed work programs for signing MoU, progress of works between the Ministry and IOM by signing MoU, future plans to cooperate between the Ministry and IOM and providing assistance for Myanmar migrant workers abroad.
