400 pearl lots, 120 Gem lots and 2150 jade lots will be displayed and sold at 98th Myanmar Gem emporium by an open tender system at Maniyadana Jade Hall in Nay Pyi Taw from 19th to 25th October.
12 countries including ASEAN member states have been invited to the emporium. Among them, Russia was offered with special invitation. In Midyear Gem Emporium, the gem lots will be sold in basic euro currency and the gem merchants from abroad will have to pay their deposits in dollars, yuan or baht which is equal to euros currency with reference foreign exchange rate set by Central Bank of Myanmar on 12 October, 2022. And also, local gem merchants need to pay Kyats equivalent to the designated Euros.
Deputy general manager, Gems Emporium and Legal Department, Khin Maung Lwin said "We will hold the emporium in line with the guidelines set by MOH. We will be sold pearls, gems and jade through tender system. The deposits will have to pay on 14 October for Gem lots and we have to make the purchase on 20 October for gem lots and 22 October for jade lots. If the foreigners purchase, we will earn foreign currency income and create job opportunities for local and international gem traders."
Myanmar held its first gems emporium in 1964 and a total of holding Pearl and jade emporium for 97th times including 18 special sale event and 23 midyear events.
