US tech giant Microsoft said it has ceased and disabled a set of services to a unit within Israel's defense ministry. The suspended services include the use of specific cloud storage and AI services and technologies. Microsoft made the announcement on Thursday.

The firm said it had discovered evidence that the ministry is using the company's cloud storage service for mass surveillance of Palestinians in Gaza. The measure was taken after the British newspaper The Guardian made the allegations in August.
