Mexico Navy vessels had sent almost 1,200 tons of a second humanitarian aid package for Cuba on Saturday as Cuba faces a tightened U.S. embargo. Trump has vowed to starve Cuba of oil after the US military ouster of Venezuelan ex-president Nicolas Maduro which had been Cuba’s main supplier of the commodity.

In the first Mexican aid shipment, two ships arrived on February 12th carrying 814 tons of food stuff. Cuba had now also been cut off from critical oil supplies from Venezuela and Mexico under the threat of US tariffs. The resulting shortages have threatened to plunge Cuba into complete darkness, with power plants struggling to keep the lights on.
