Mexico demo to bring back banned bullfighting

Supporters of bullfighting delivered more than 33,000 signatures to the Congress of Mexico City in support of the tradition. The signatures were collected during a campaign carried out in February and March.

That campaign was held after opponents submitted 15,000 signatures a few months ago, calling for a permanent ban of bullfighting in the Mexican capital. A judge had granted a ban on bullfighting in Mexico City for an indefinite period in June 2022. Since 2013, four states in the country have prohibited bullfighting, and polls indicate that there is substantial support for bans.
