Mexican authorities arrested a vice admiral and five active-duty sailors, as well as former officials and businessmen on Sunday, linked to a stolen fuel trafficking network, a criminal practice that thrives in the country.

"These investigations and surveillance efforts confirmed the existence of an organization dedicated to the theft and illegal sale of fuel, involving mainly businesspeople and some authorities," said Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection in a press conference in Mexico City.
