In Veracruz, stores are facing shortages of essentials like drinking water, ice, and electricity, as residents endure the scorching sun of an intense heat wave. This heat wave has claimed the lives of 14 individuals in the city and a total of 48 across Mexico since March. Over 950 people have reported experiencing health issues during this period, as reported by the health ministry.

The combination of high temperatures and minimal wind is worsening the pollution situation, especially in Mexico City. Scientists from the National Autonomous University of Mexico have cautioned that further records may be broken in the upcoming two weeks.
