Mexicans sprint in stilettos for LGBT equality

13 May 2019

Mexicans turned out on Sunday for Monterrey's second annual high heel race to raise awareness for LGBT equality in the country.

Hundreds watched men and women put on stilettos for a sprint down a local street. The novel idea not only seeks to promote LGBT equality in the predominantly Catholic country but also to embrace diversity. Mexico City is home to the most visible gay community in the country and couples freely express affection in many parts of the city.
