Nightmares of artisans transformed into colorful cardboard monsters were paraded on Saturday at Mexico City Center, along streets and avenues.
The "alebrijes," as the figures are known in Mexico, are traditional small handicrafts invented to expel nightmares in a way to have fun. Some of the sculptures can measure up to 7 meters in height and weigh up to 300 kilograms.
The brightly colored folk art sculptures are thought to have been originated in the state of Oaxaca in the 1930s.
