







Under the supervision of the Rakhine State Government, the Rakhine State Election Sub-Commission led the opening of the Myanmar Electronic Voting Machine (MEVM) Handling and Usage Training of Trainers Course. The ceremony took place on the morning of July 7 at U Ottama Hall in Sittwe, with Rakhine State Chief Minister U Htein Lin attending and delivering the opening remarks.
In his opening speech, Chief Minister U Htein Lin stated that this upcoming election will be the first in Myanmar's electoral history to utilize electronic voting machines. He emphasized that since using MEVMs is a first for the country, it's crucial for voters to be able to cast their ballots easily and for those handling the machines to do so systematically. He urged the trainees to focus on learning and understanding the theoretical and practical aspects of the MEVMs, to diligently practice and follow the operational guidelines, and to approach this as a national duty, collaborating effectively.
Following his speech, Chief Minister U Htein Lin presented cash assistance for the trainees, which were accepted by the State Election Officer.
Next, Union Election Commission Member U Aung Moe Myint explained the purpose of inaugurating the MEVM Handling and Usage Training of Trainers Course and also presented cash assistance to the trainees. After that, Assistant Director U Ko Ko Maung from the Union Election Commission Office provided a detailed explanation and demonstration of the MEVM.
The Rakhine State Chief Minister and officials then observed demonstrations of voting with the MEVM. They warmly met and greeted the trainees who will attend the course and toured the voting machines prepared for practical demonstrations.
The trainers from the Union Election Commission Office are providing theoretical and practical instruction on how to use the MEVM, and the course will last for two days.
