

Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni on a visit to Ethiopia pledged economic aid and training in a bid to fight migration.Meloni was welcomed by Ethiopian Prime minister Abiy Ahmed. The pair held talks where they discussed migration, the stability of the Horn of Africa region and the economic cooperation between both countries.Meloni also met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud during her visit.
She said countries in the region were important in helping fight against illegal migration towards the southern shores of Italy. Italy’s right-wing government on Tuesday declared a six-month national state of emergency to help it cope with a surge in migrants arriving on the country’s southern shores.
