






A meeting of the Working Group on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism was held at the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw on 24th December and the chairperson of Working Group Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar Daw Than Than Swe delivered the opening remarks.
During the meeting, the chairperson of the Working Group addressed questions raised regarding 13th Progress Report of Myanmar. The chairperson emphasized the importance of providing thorough and accurate responses to these questions, particularly in preparation for the Asia-Pacific Group (APJG) meeting to be held in January 2025 in the Philippines.
This meeting aims to ensure effective and clear discussions on matters related to the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism. The working group members were urged to collaborate and discuss these issues in detail. Additionally, she stressed that the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Financing of Terrorism (CFT) processes are crucial for the economic development of the country, urging all relevant ministries to work together proactively.
Further, relevant departments engaged in discussions to clarify additional questions related to the progress report.
The meeting was attended by the chairperson of the Working Group, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar,Vice Chair of the Working Group, member of the Anti-Corruption Commission U Kyaw Win Thein, the secretary of the working group, the head of the Financial Investigation Unit, officials from the Central Bank of Myanmar, and members of the Working Group on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Financing of Terrorism, who are responsible officials from the relevant departments.
