Meeting on usage of farmland: MoALI Union Minister addressed the meeting

The second coordination meeting of Leading Committee for Drawing Standard Operating Procedure –SOP) to resolve the use of farmland in other ways and the methods to prevent it from happening in the future was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on October 23rd with the attendance of Chairman of Leading Committee Union Minister U Min Naung and committee members.

In his remark, the Leading Committee Chairman Union Minister said according to the 8 decisions made by the first Leading Committee work coordination meeting, the regions and states work committees held the meetings to draw the SOP and reported to the Leading Committee. In the reports, some points are similar and some are different. 

The farmland owners need to know and comply with the provisions in the law. If someone who bought the farmland knowingly or unknowingly, use the farmland to construct the building without permission and breaking the law will be taken action. Everybody should study the nature of the farmland law and related provisions.

Next, the joint-secretary-2 of Leading Committee clarified the contents of draft SOP and the Chairman, Vice chairmen and committee members discussed the contents to be included.
