Meeting on security and development: SAC Chairman delivered an address at the meeting

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlang delivered an address at the meeting on the security and development of Yangon Region held at the meeting hall in Kone Myint Tha of Yangon on 8th of October.

The meeting was also attended by the SAC Joint-Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council member Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen. Yar Pyae, Yangon Region Chief Minister, Senior military officials from the office of Commander In Chief, Commander of Yangon Command, Yangon Mayor, Region Ministers, military officials and departmental officials.

First, the Commander of Yangon Command Ma-J Gen. Zaw Hein, provided a briefing on carrying out security measures within the area of regional Command, formation of Public Security and Counter-Terrorism forces, participation in the population and housing census enumeration process together with the departmental workforce, capturing terrorists and seizing weapons and ammunitions during the security operations etc. 

Next, the Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein clarified the data of the Region, setting of security checkpoints at the Townships and main roads, formation of Public Security and Counter-Terrorism Supervisory Body and Public Security and Counter-Terrorism forces, enumeration of population and housing census as per the areas and the collaboration of security and departmental personnel for the peace and security of the Region.

In his address, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister emphasized that the security measures will be stronger with the participation of the public, cooperation of public and civil service personnel in the security measures with the sense of obligation in security will be able to prevent and reduce the security breaches, the constant alert on the security awareness and perspectives of the public security and counter-terrorism forces is a ‘must’, they “in collaboration with the general public” must remain vigilant with security awareness to prevent terrorists from infiltrating wards and villages, and to ensure that no terrorist activities can be carried out, from the time of taking State responsibilities, the future work plans were set and the ultimate objective is to hold Election again and transfer power back to the government that wins.

The Government is diligently working to successfully achieve it. In a democratic country, police officers, judicial officials, and administrative authorities play a crucial role in safeguarding democracy. The role of administrative bodies is significant in the security sector, regarding with the District Administrative measures, the formation of districts has been expanded to effectively carry out the Administrative and regional development matters; by exercising authority vested, the District Administrators need to implement relevant Township’s development, peace and stability.

The SAC Chairman also highlighted the importance of educated human resources in pacing on the democracy path, sports activities to be conducted in coming open season, it is necessary to work towards ensuring prosperity according to each township and district. The responsibilities must be carried out honestly and transparently, effectively implementing the essence of governance to promote stability and development. Following the address, the meeting was concluded.
