





The Union Minister for Information, U Maung Maung Ohn, and the Chief Minister of Shan State, U Aung Aung, met with the staff from the Ministry of Information in Shan State at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Community Center in Taunggyi on Monday.
They discussed how to work together through media activities to ensure the success of ongoing implementations in Shan State. First, the Union Minister mentioned that Shan State is home to various ethnic groups and has a large territorial area.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Shan State Government in promoting regional development. He emphasized that, to ensure the success of these efforts and to ensure the public is well-informed, the Ministry’s staff must collaborate through media activities.
He stated that civil servants should be loyal and committed to their duties to the state and the people, and should contribute their expertise to the region’s development. He further mentioned that the Ministry of Information will ensure that accurate news is disseminated through television, newspapers, radio, and online platforms to ensure widespread awareness among the people.
The Chief Minister continued by highlighting that, as the government is striving to advance regional development, efforts are also being made to meet the needs of the staff in Shan State. He mentioned that, if staff face difficulties in their respective offices, they should submit their concerns to the state government for resolution.
Later, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister coordinated the staff’s proposals and provided cash assistance. In the late afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Shan State Buddhist University in the Phayar Phyu Ward of Taunggyi.
He paid homage to the Rector, Professor Dr. Dhammasami (Oxford Sayadaw), and offered the offertories to the Sayadaw. Subsequently, the Union Minister visited the university’s library, where he observed the organization of books and the preservation of ancient manuscripts, texts, and scriptures. He inquired about the needs that could assist in improving the university’s operations and expressed his willingness to support initiatives for the library’s development.
