






Union Minister for Information, U Maung Maung Ohn, met with literary scholars from the National Literary Award Selection Committee and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee in the meeting hall of the Printing and Publishing Department on Theinbyu Road, Botahtaung Township, Yangon on June 30th.
First, the Union Minister delivered opening remarks, stating that the National Lifetime Literary Award, the National Literary Award, and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards which aim to encourage the publication of high-quality literary works by passionate writers have been presented in various forms since 1948, and continue to be awarded to this day as the country's most prestigious literary honors.
He added that this year as well, recognition will be given to outstanding literary figures who have contributed their entire lives to the field of literature and have produced excellent literary works. Following that, the Director General of the Printing and Publishing Department presented an update and discussion on the processes involved in the selection of literary awards.
Then, Vice-Chair (1) of the National Literary Award Selection Committee U Sein Hlaing (Thura Zaw), Chair of the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe), and prominent literary scholars in attendance shared their opinions and suggestions concerning the selection of the National Literary Awards and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Awards.
In conclusion, the Union Minister responded to the presentations and discussions by providing coordinated guidance and delivered a closing speech.
