Meeting with Literary Experts: MOI Union Minister discussed on selecting literary awards

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with the literary experts from the National Literary Award Selection Committee and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee at the meeting hall of Printing and Publishing Department on Thein Phyu Road, Yangon in the afternoon on Thursday.

First, in his remark, the Union Minister said the meeting is to discuss regarding with selecting winner for the Lifetime Literary Award, the National Literary Award and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award. The consecutive governments addressed and held the literary prize awarding ceremony.

During the tenure of State Administration Council, the literary prize awarding ceremony was organized in national level with grand scale for two times and the SAC Chairman Prime Minister himself attended the ceremony.

By the part of the Ministry of Information, regarding with the selection of winner for the Lifetime Literary Award, the National Literary Award and the Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award, it was not conducted mechanically but willingly.

Let me give suggestion to the literary experts for the winner of Lifetime Literary Award to scrutinize and select without leaving the deserved persons considering the level of age and literary expertise.

The literary experts are suggested to supervise for the development of the literary world. Next, the director general reported the implementation regarding with the selecting literary award and manuscript award.

Then, the chairman of National Literary Award Selection Committee U Sein Hlaing (Thura Zaw), chairman of Sarpay Beikman Manuscript Award Selection Committee U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe) and attendee literary experts discussed the preparation regarding with the award selection, status of receiving books and the arrangements for selecting award.

In responding to the discussions, the Union Minister coordinated requirements and gave a speech of conclusion.

In the evening, the Union Minister attended the handing over ceremony of fund for orphans in commemorating the 78th Anniversary Armed Forces Day held at the Film Development Center of the Information and Public Relations Department in Bahan Township.

First, the ceremony was opened with the Video Clip of “starlets” song co-singing with Myanmarpyi Thein Tan and orphans. Next, the Union Minister gave an opening remark regarding with the raising fund for the orphans. Then, Myanmarpyi Thein Tan clarified the undertakings of fund raising for the orphans. 
Afterward, the Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe), Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun, Chairman of Myanmar Music Organization (Central) U Lwin Myint, executive member of Myanmar Theatrical Organizaton (Central) U Htay Lwin handed over funds for the orphans to Nan Oo Philanthropic monastery, Mingalar Youth Development Philanthropic Home, Kamar Swe Philanthropic Home, KalaywaTawya monastic school, Mittawadi Youth Development Philanthropic Home, PyinnyaTheitPan Youth Development Philanthropic Home, La Pyae Wun Youth Development Philanthropic Home, Aung Zayyar Min Youth Development Philanthropic Home, Khin Hnin Wei Offspring’ Home and Yatana Beikman Philanthropic monastery and the responsible persons accepted.

Then, Chairman of Myanmar Press Council U Ohn Maung (Myinmu Maung Naing Moe), Chairman of Myanmar Motion Picture Organization U Kyi Soe Tun, Chairman of Myanmar Music Organization (Central) U Lwin Myint, executive member of Myanmar Theatrical Organization (Central) U Htay Lwin expressed words of delight and Daw Khaing Hnin Wei from Khin Hnin Wei Offspring’ Home extended words of thanks.
