Meeting with Departmental Officials: MoALI UM met with officials from Dept. of Agriculture

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung met with state, district, and township level departmental officials at the Shan State Department of Agriculture Office in Taunggyi on January 2 to discuss the use of quality seeds, adoption of modern technologies and the accuracy of agricultural statistics.

At the meeting, various departmental officials briefed on the coordinated efforts among government departments, private entrepreneurs, and farmers to develop the state’s agricultural and livestock sectors, expand multiple crop production and promote agriculture and livestock-based industries.

In response to the presentations, the Union Minister urged nationwide use of quality seeds and closer coordination among experts and farmers to apply technology for achieving target yields and improving marketable crop quality. He emphasized clear and practical communication to ensure effective technology dissemination and called for region-specific development of agriculture and livestock based on accurate statistics reflecting local climate conditions and farmers’ capacity.

On January 3, the Union Minister met first, second, and third year students at the training hall of the Institutes of Agriculture and Livestock (Heho and Demoso). The Union Minister urged the students to apply their knowledge to support farmers’ livelihoods and national agricultural development and promote modern farming technologies while striving to study advanced agricultural and livestock sciences. He later inspected students’ vegetable farms. The Union Minister then proceeded to InnGaung Dam to oversee the water storage and silt excavation conditions and coordinated the needs.
