Meeting with delegation members: Delegation members for cultural week and media forum

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met with a delegation of departmental representatives from six ministries at the Ministry on Tuesday. The delegation is scheduled to attend the opening ceremony of the "China-Myanmar Cultural Week" and the 4th "China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum" in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China from November 11th to 15th.

The event commenced with the screening of a video clip titled "From SweMyoPaukPhaw Friendship to Everlasting China-Myanmar Relations". In his speech, the Union Minister expressed pride that the trip would contribute to strengthening China-Myanmar friendship and cultural exchange.

He urged everyone to embrace the spirit of mutual participation in deepening the bond between the two countries. The Union Minister highlighted the trip's goals to promote friendship and understanding between the peoples of China and Myanmar, exchange cultures, and showcase the unique and rich tourism resources of both nations.

He expressed firm belief that through these cultural exchanges, the relationship between the two countries would continue to flourish and deepen. Following the Union Minister’s speech, Director General of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) U Ye Naing provided a briefing on the trip.

The delegation then engaged in inquiries, suggestions and discussions. The Union Minister, along with other concerned officials and the delegation, witnessed dance performances by MRTV staff, as well as Bagan-era, marionette and Yein dances performed by staff from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

The Union Minister then reviewed the key points to be discussed, performed and showcased during the trip and coordinated the necessary arrangements. Next, Union Minister and delegation toured Myanmar traditional lacquerware, to be displayed by the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, and landscape photos by the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism while providing guidance on the required preparations.

A total of 41 departmental representatives from six ministries including the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, along with external media and organizations, will participate in the "China-Myanmar Cultural Week" and "China-Myanmar Twin City Media Forum.

This program includes online New Media refresher courses, a joint China-Myanmar agricultural production initiative, the cooperation between the media and news sectors in 2025, the first batch of mutual translation and publication of classical literature, promotion of China-Myanmar tourism products including signed agreements to enhance tourism cooperation as well as a cultural exchange program between the two countries.
