Meeting in Dawei: Meeting with Field Census Supervisory Committees

On Friday, Chairman of the Central Committee for Census Enumeration Union Minister for Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, along with Chairman of Tanintharyi Region Field Census Supervisory Committee Chief Minister U Myat Ko met with Region Government officials and members of the Region, District and Township Field Census Supervisory Committees at the Tanintharyi Region Government office in Dawei.

In the meeting, the Union Minister emphasized that an accurate voter list is essential for free and fair multiparty democratic general election. He also highlighted inclusion of eligible voters and exclusion those without voting rights from the voter list. He underscored the verification of the nationwide census for individuals aged 18 and above, with the Region, District, and Township Committees approving and forwarding it to the Central Committee.

The lists are then submitted to the State Administration Council and Union Election Commission for compilation, ensuring thorough verification at the township level to prevent errors. He emphasized the need for ID card issuance for temporarily displaced victims of terrorism and disasters, according to the law. He stressed the need for coordination with regions and states relevant personnel to ensure the ID card issuance process includes lawful individuals in the voter list and prevents duplicates.

The Union Minister also urged supervisory committees at all levels to cooperate for timely work completion.

The Chief Minister then reported on the ongoing verification process of the Tanintharyi Region population data, Phase (3) of the PanKhin Project and the status of the census enumeration for temporarily displaced persons.

Afterward, the relevant officials reported on the sector specific progress, efforts for the accuracy of the voter list and issuance of various voter cards and work requirements. The Union Minister then coordinated the reported needs.

The Union Minister later toured Dawei City Hall and Township officer office. He inspected NRC card verification for local residents under the PanKhin Project Phase (3) and the issuance of Unique ID numbers through the e-ID system.

At the Township office meeting hall, the Union Minister met with region, district, and township personnel within the region. They discussed the ministry's immediate priorities, coordination with local authorities and ministries and efforts for accurate population list and achievement of PanKhin Project Phase (3) targets. He then coordinated the needs and provided cash assistance and food to staff.

Afterwards, the Union Minister toured the office building and staff housing and provided necessary instructions.
