




Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held meetings with the district level officials and townselder from Sagaing and Mandalay on separate occasions on Saturday.
During these meetings, the Prime Minister highlighted the extensive damages caused by the powerful Mandalay earthquake, urging all to learn from the devastating quake for better mitigation in the future. He added that rescue and rehabilitation measures have been carried out with the support of international communities. Pledging to provide the needs of materials and cash assistance for reconstruction, the Prime Minister called for participating of every individual in systematic restructuring of Town Plan.
He also stressed the need to strive for development of agriculture, livestock and MSME industry, along with the implementation of solar-powered river pumping projects. Emphasizing the crucial role of educated individuals in regional development endeavours, the Prime Minister urged all to encourage the enrollment of all school-going aged children in the coming academic year.
He added that the schools damaged by the earthquake will be reconstructed as soon as possible. At the same time, the 200-bed People’s Hospital in Sagaing will be upgraded to the 300-bed facility and the 700th Anniversary Stadium will also be reconstructed as the international standard facility. He called for cooperation of all local residents for long term durability of the infrastructures for achieving development.
During the meetings, the Prime Minister provided 50 billion kyat cash assistance for rehabilitation works in Sagaing Region and 60 billion kyat for Mandalay Region. The townselders expressed thanks for the assistance and also reported on the needs for reconstruction of schools and machinery requirement for removing debris. The Prime Minister coordinated upon their reports and cordially greeted the attendees.
