Medical mission accomplished: Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) returned from mission

The Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) with the Medical Teams comprised of specialists, medical officers and nurses from Tatmadaw and the Ministry of Health onboard is on the tour to provide medical services to the residents of Rakhine State Coastal region and the residents of CocoKyun Township of Yangon Region from 1st to 22nd of March, 2023.

On the return to Thilawa No. 4 Naval Pier in Yangon on 24th of March, they were warmly welcome by the Tatmadaw (Navy) Senior Officers led by Ma-J Gen. Htein Win from Thanlyin Station, officers, ranks and family members of military personnel and Medical Superintendant Dr. Daw Cho Cho Lwin.

The Mobile Medical Team from Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) provided healthcare services to local people living in the coastal areas of Rakhine State such as Gwa, Thandwe Township, KyaukKaLatt Village-tract, ThaByuChaing Village, Ramree Township, KyaukNiMaw Village, ManAung Township, KyaukPhyu Township, SaNe Town, MyayPon Township of Mrauk-U District, PyaingTaung Village-tract Soe Me Kyi Village and surrounding villages and the local residents of ColoKyun Township and surrounding area. The 15,827 local patients in total including 4,816 patients who need medical treatments, 818 patients who need surgical operations, 609 patients with obstetric/gynecologic diseases, 780 patients with pediatric diseases, 2884 orthopedic diseases, 1179 patients with Eye Nose Throat related diseases, 3509 patients with eye diseases and 1232 patients with dental and oral diseases were given medical treatment. The medics conducted operations on 142 patients who need to perform eye surgery and 100 patients who need to perform general surgery onboard.

Moreover, diagnoses and treatments were also provided to 65 patients who need to take X-ray scans, 1158 ultrasound scanning patients, 388 patients who need to receive laboratory tests, 1107 cardiologic patients undergoing ECG procedures, and one pregnant woman was able to give birth baby successfully onboard.

On behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Ma-J Gen Htein Win gave honorary gifts to the Mobile Medical Team from Tatmadaw and Ministry of Health and catered with foodstuff.

The Tatmadaw Sea-going Mobile Hospital Vessel (Thanlwin) with the Tatmadaw Mobile Medical Team onboard have been providing healthcare services to local people in coastal areas since 2016. It is reported that the present mission is the 16th time and 141,994 patients of local residents were given medical treatment and 18 pregnant women were able to deliver babies successfully onboard.
