Media Literacy and Nation Building: Nurturing responsible information consumption

A seminar focusing on "Preventing Media Misinformation" and "The Role of Media in Nation Building" took place in Mandalay on Thursday. Video clips addressing these topics were screened before the seminar commenced.
U Maung Maung Ohn, the Union Minister for Information, emphasized the challenges posed by the rapid increase of news sources in the age of information technology, highlighting how some sources create unnecessary problems. He stressed the importance of cultivating a correct outlook to differentiate false claims, emphasizing the societal benefits of doing so.
Recognizing the pivotal role of student youths as crucial human resources for nation-building, he urged for the better utilization of their knowledge for the nation's advancement.
During the seminar, MTV DTH dishes and DVB T2 Set Top Boxes were distributed to teachers and students through a lucky draw program. More than 1,000 attendees, including rectors, faculties, and students from 12 universities and colleges in the Mandalay Region, participated in the event.
