




The Myanmar Engineering Council held its 8th regular meeting (3/2024) at its headquarters in Lanmadaw Township, Yangon Region. The meeting was attended by Council Patrons, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Chairmen of engineering specialized working groups and council members.
In his opening remarks, Patron of Myanmar Engineering Council Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than emphasized the crucial role of collaboration among engineers, technicians and technical experts in enhancing the country's industrial sector.
He highlighted that the nation's GDP is comprised of three major sectors: agriculture, industry, and services, with industrial development being a main focus. He urged academic institutions to continue nurturing graduates from Technological, Computer and Arts and Sciences Universities into experts who will contribute significantly to the nation's progress.
Afterwards, relevant officials reported on current operations, upcoming 2024 activities, and progress on the 2022-2023 strategic plan and reviewed completion status of decisions from the fifth regular Council meeting (3/2023)and work undertakings of engineering specialized groups.
Additionally, council patrons discussed the requirements for the success of the council’s activities. The meeting also sought approval for decisions from the 4 executive committee meetings held between March and June 2024 as per Section 15, Chapter 6 of the Council Law. The update report on work operations, the financial status and work completion for the first three months of 2024 were also made clarification.
