The Matriculation exam for 2018-2019 Academic Year will be held from March 6 to 15, Department of Myanmar Examination Board said.
In Pyinmanar township, the matriculation students are now sitting for the pre test exam that will help them to familiar with the changed new format of questions.
According to the Ministry of Education, the questions forms for the matriculation exam in the 2018-2019 academic year will change in order to develop their critical thinking skills. Moreover, to ensure the students fully understand on the questions rather than just answering by heart.
Education Officer, (Pyinmanar Township), Win Kyaing said “We have 7 exam centers for Pyinmanar Township and 4,446 students will sit for the matriculation exam. The students need to sit for the pre test exam from Feb 7-15 that will help the students to be familiarized with the changed new format of questions. I’m very pleased for this change. Because the questions in the new exam will focus more on generating critical thinking among students rather than relying on rote learning and memorization.”
Principal, B.E.H.S No.(1) Pyinmana, Yu Yu Kyi said “The students for this academic year matriculation exam sit their pre test exam since Feb 7 to 15 which will help them to familiar with the new format of the questions. Grade-3, Grade-5, Grade-6, Grade-7 and Grade-9 will sit for the year end exam. Whether they pass it or not will based on the combine marks from this yearend exam and exams from July, October and December. All the students for the matriculation exam will have to sit for this pre test exam. Because the name lists for this pre test exam will be send to the Department of Myanmar Examination Board.”
