Mass Meetings: SC Met Local Residents In Pyay And Thayawady Townships

Chairperson of the Central Committee for Development of Border Areas and National Races, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and party arrived at Pyay Township of Bago Region in the morning on Thursday.

The state counsellor and party were welcome by the chief minister of Bago Region and regional ministers and responsible officials and local residents at Pyi Airport. Later, the state counsellor and party arrived at Thiri-Chittayar museum in Sri-Chitayar old city by motorcade.

The deputy director general of Archeological research and national museum department clarified the background history of Sri-Chitayar old city, the criteria to be listed as world heritage site, research works, educating works to the local, international visitors regarding with the cultural heritages, cooperation with the foreign countries and the facts of cultural heritages.

Afterwards, the state counsellor and party observed the cultural heritages displayed at Thiri-Chittayar museum and signed on the guest book of museum. Next, the state counsellor observed the palace site in Sri-Khittayar old city, Arahat lake and paid homage to Baw Baw Gyi pagoda and offered flower, water, candle lamps, arms-food, fruits and scented sticks to the pagoda.

Later, the state counsellor arrived at general hospital (500 beds) and the patients were comforted. Afterwards, the state counsellor met with the elders in Pyi district and local residents at Thiri-Chittayar Yadanar city hall of Pyi Township. At the meeting, the state counsellor highlighted that holding mass meeting is to review the current situation. Only the right assessment of current situation can support to right decision for the future.

During the mass meeting, the question of the people is the important section. The questions and words should lead to the interest of the country. The questions should be for the interest of the country but not to criticize an individual, an institution and government.

The state counsellor added the instances in the previous mass meetings, criticism and self-criticism and rights and responsibilities…etc. Afterwards, the state counsellor answered the questions of the attendees and explained related matters.

Next, the union ministers, regional chief minister and responsible officials explained the works to be carried out upon the submission of the local residents and the state counsellor supplemented the necessaries. After the meeting, the state counsellor took a documentary photo together with the students attended the meeting.

Later, the state counsellor and party left Pyi by helicopter at 1:55 and arrived at Thayawady. The regional minister, parliament representatives, departmental officials and local residents welcome them. Later, the state counsellor met with the parliament representatives, departmental officials and townselders and local residents.

At the meeting, the state counsellor pointed out that the mass meeting is an important part in the implementation of democratic system. The contact between the public and the responsible persons in administration is always needed. The government staffs must have a contact with the people. The problems and challenges of the public must be understood.

In return, the public also should understand of the staffs. The problems to be solved together must be borne in mind…etc. Afterwards, the state counsellor answered the questions of the attendees and explained related matters.

Next, the union ministers, regional chief minister and responsible officials explained the works to be carried out upon the submission of the local residents and the state counsellor supplemented the necessaries. After the meeting, the state counsellor took a documentary photo together with the students attended the meeting and left by helicopter.
