Masoud Pezeshkian sworn in as Iranian president

Iran's new president, Masoud Pezeshkian, took the oath of office in parliament in Tehran on Tuesday. He gave an address that offered a hope of a thaw in foreign relations by promising to improve ties internationally and to ease restrictions on social freedoms at home.

Pezeshkian declared that his election will open up a "new opportunity" for Iran and the world. Pezeshkian said his priority will be to improve and strengthen relations with Iran's neighbors.
